As of 1 June 2005, Direct Fuels sold its branded/retail fuel business to Community Fuels of Texas ("CFT"), a spin-out of Direct Fuels led by the division's former Director, Dale Gray.

This divestiture was pursued so that Direct Fuels could completely focus its efforts on transmix processing and pipeline fuel distribution in advance of multiple upcoming regulation changes.
